No Renault collection should be without its Tractor so we are pleased to offer here something from Renault Agriculture SAS, a subsidiary formed after successes in providing military tanks and vehicles throughout WW1. The Company continued until acquired by German rival Claas in 2008. Tractors were originally assembled in Renault’s factory at Billancourt and test at Louis Renault’s farm in Herqueville.  By the fifties production had switched to the Le Mans facility and this became the third largest of Renault’s operations in France and Renault was the largest producer of tractors in the country.

This tractor was part of the new model series of Renault tractors introduced after the Second World War. Early models were only available with petrol engines but in 1951, diesel versions were added to the range.  Renault produced 2140 units of the R7013 model, over a period of five years and as the production number of this particular example is 2062, it would have been built in 1955, the last year of production.

Powered by a four cylinder French Perkins 3.1 litre diesel engine which starts, runs and drives very well, this tractor is in very good mechanical order. The paintwork has been refreshed in the genuine Renault orange and the original name plates are still present on the front and sides. The tractor is in delightful condition all round and would be an unusual exhibit at any classic vehicle or heritage show, or indeed the perfect assistant on a small holding.
